Beaton Consulting alumni

Faces change rarely at Beaton Consulting, and those who do move on remain friends, business associates, and often become valued clients in their turn. So after nearly 20 years, we have decided to include a dedicated section on our website, to celebrate the successes of our alumni and keep interested clients informed of their endeavours.

Michael Beaton-Wells

Michael Beaton-Wells joined Beaton Consulting in 1995 on a three-month project management contract and ended up staying for 10 years. He rose to become a principal in 2001 and was responsible for building Australia's first forensic marketing expert witness and consulting practice.

During his time with Beaton Consulting, Michael added a Melbourne Business School Masters of Marketing to his BA LLB from the University of Melbourne. Through Michael's instrumental leadership on many strategic and marketing assignments, the University became – and remains – one of the firm's most significant clients. The Beaton team has worked with almost every faculty, as well as for the Senior Vice-Principal, the International Office and the Academic Registrar.

In mid-2004 Michael decided it was time to seek new challenges, joined the University of Melbourne, and in a very short time was appointed Director of University Planning – no doubt a portent of bigger things to come. Congratulations Michael!

Kevin Keong

With degrees from the University of Melbourne in Engineering (first class honours) and Commerce, Kevin joined Beaton Consulting in 2002 as a rising star with experience developing software for financial services, consulting and government organisations. He was made consultant in 2003, working across the market-led strategy, research & benchmarks and forensic marketing practices.

Kevin's significant technical skills and dedication to improving revenue and profitability for clients were put to great use on some of Beaton Consulting's largest projects.

We have no doubt that Kevin is currently wowing internal clients in his new position as manager of marketing analytics with the credit card division of a major Australian bank. In a natural progression for Kevin, his new role supports the development of the bank's credit card strategy through detailed market analyses.

Andrew Killer

Andrew joined Beaton Consulting at the beginning of 2005 with over eight years' experience working for some of the leading corporations and professional service firms in Australia and the United Kingdom. At Beaton Consulting, his interests led him to deliver successful pricing, branding and strategy jobs for our clients, and to play a considerable role in Learning to Lead and many other seminar engagements. He was both a valuable Beacon team member and actively involved in numerous client projects working predominantly with law and engineering firms. Andrew played a key role in building client relationships and leading the collaboration with sister company Wellmark that gave birth to brand/ed. Andrew is now the National Business Development Manager for the Banking & Projects practice group of Freehills. We wish Andrew every success in his new role!

Tom Kimpton

After completing a BA/BCom at the University of Melbourne and a stint at Deutsche Bank, Tom Kimpton joined Beaton Consulting in 2002. He was made consultant in 2003, working predominantly in the market-led strategy and research and benchmarks areas.

A natural at client service, Tom won the hearts of many clients, most notably through corporate strategy work for leading law associations and government bodies.

Tom is currently living and working in London as strategy projects manager in the strategy team at Linklaters, a global, market-leading law firm. He manages multi-jurisdictional and multi-functional internal teams set up to give effect to the firm's strategy – when he's not keeping the Beaton team up to date with UK trends.

Maciej Wasilewicz

Maciej joined Beaton Consulting as Project Manager for Beacon, the largest study of professional service firms undertaken in Australia. His work contributed to the growth of Beacon with the range of professions covered by Beacon doubling, expansion into Asia and New Zealand and further improvement in the depth of the data available to subscribers. Maciej then moved into a consulting role in our Market-led Strategy practice area where he worked on several large assignments for government, not-for-profit and professional services clients. A significant contribution was his wide-ranging report for a government agency on improving its approach to legal tendering. Though he has moved to London, Maciej remembers his time at Beaton Consulting fondly. In a recent email, he wrote: 'The people at Beaton Consulting took the time to get to know me, and in doing so were able to tailor advice and support to my individual needs. I really appreciate the contribution that this made to me in developing as a professional consultant.'
