The Annual Business and Professions Study

The Annual Business and Professions Study is a unique research initiative that promotes excellence in the business community. With the support of over 30 leading associations and with inputs from more than 30,000 business people, it is the largest study of its type in Australasia.

Each year, the study explores a range of issues relevant to member organisations, professionals, professional service firms and their clients.

Designed to inform strategy

The Annual Business and Professions Study is action-oriented, with outputs designed to inspire improved client and member service and to inform the strategic growth of associations and individual firms.

Outputs of this initiative include:

  • member satisfaction studies – enabling participating associations to test member offers and to benchmark the performance of their services against that of other associations and industry groups
  • a talent monitor – providing clarity on what professions can do to attract, develop and retain talent
  • a pro bono element – focusing in 2008 on work–life balance, developed in collaboration with Canadian experts, Dr Linda Duxbury and Dr Chris Higgins
  • a summary report (PDF 1.07 MB) – providing an overview of industry performance, featuring comparisons across professions, that is publicly available
  • Beacon™ – delivering detailed insights to professional service firms on buyer behaviour, brand perceptions and firm performance
  • the BRW Client Choice Awards – identifying and recognising excellence in client service.
